Most Likely To Succeed {by Jennifer Echols}

Title: Most Likely to Succeed
Author: Jennifer Echols
Series: Superlatives #3
Genre: YA Contemporary
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Received via Edelweiss

In this sexy conclusion to The Superlatives trilogy from Endless Summer author Jennifer Echols, Sawyer and Kaye might just be perfect for each other, if only they could admit it.
As vice president of Student Council, Kaye knows the importance of keeping order. Not only in school, but in her personal life. Which is why she and her boyfriend, Aidan, already have their lives mapped out: attend Columbia University together, pursue banking careers, and eventually get married. Everything Kaye has accomplished in high school--student government, cheerleading, stellar grades--has been in preparation for that future.
To his entire class, Sawyer is an irreverent bad boy. His antics on the field as school mascot and his love of partying have earned him total slacker status. But while he and Kaye appear to be opposites on every level, fate-and their friends-keep conspiring to throw them together. Perhaps the seniors see the simmering attraction Kaye and Sawyer are unwilling to acknowledge to themselves.
As the year unfolds, Kaye begins to realize her ideal life is not what she thought. And Sawyer decides it's finally time to let down the facade and show everyone who he really is. Is a relationship between them most likely to succeed,or will it be their favorite mistake?

This was my favorite out of the series. I loved Sawyer from the first two, and I knew how opposite he and Kaye were, so I was super interested to see how this one played out. After all, my favorite romances are the ones that start with dislike, and this did not disappoint.

Kaye takes school seriously. She's the model student, VP of Student Council, has her whole life planned out with her also-perfect boyfriend, Aidan. Until things slowly start unraveling. Kaye refused to acknowledge her attraction to Sawyer, the school's "bad boy". But he's actually been harboring a crush on Kaye for years, and finally decides it's time to do something about it.

I could probably relate to Kaye more than Tia or Harper, which probably helped cement this as my favorite. But I also loved Sawyer from the beginning of the series. He may seem like a bad boy, but we know he isn't. Thanks to Tia's insight, we know how hard-working he really is. I'm glad that he finally got a chance to shine.

I also felt for Kaye, and the ridiculously high standards her mom held her up to, and the way she flipped out when Kaye deviated even a bit from the plan. But I loved seeing her and Sawyer figure out how much they were willing to do to be together, and how much this relationship meant to them. I enjoyed their banter and seeing them interact, and how their interactions changed so much.

I loved this story and these characters (and of course our favorite characters from the previous books). This was a fun, easy read and I found it very enjoyable.

Valentine's Day #booklove!

Happy Valentine's Day, booknerds! I think I speak for most of us when I say that books are, and always will be, our first love. I personally don't usually do much to celebrate Vday (except use it as an excuse to bake treats).

However, I saw that Jessica Brooks was doing a #booklove giveaway to spread love. Click the image below to be taken to her post, which has a GIVEAWAY, but basically she is asking to spread the book love by crossposting reviews to Amazon/BN/other purchase sites. This is an easy and simple way to spread the love for your favorite authors and books, especially if you have some favorite Indie/self pub books.

I thought I would also take a moment to spread the booklove by showcasing some of my recent favorites as well. As much as I would like to, I can't review every book I read, and some slip through the cracks. So these are just a few of my recent favorites, as well as some of my indie favs.

Jackaby by William Ritter
This is my most recent favorite. I loved this book so much. I mean, it's pitched as Doctor Who meets Sherlock, so how could I not? Not to mention a stunning cover. But I loved, loved this book.

Just Pru by Anne Pfeffer
I actually just finished this self-pub, but it surprised me in the best way. It was hilarious and fun, but still dealt with serious topics. Pru is one of my new favorite MC's.

Solving for Ex and First World Problems by Leigh Ann Kopans
LeighAnn Kopans is one of my favorite indie authors, so of course I had to mention her again, even though she's technically not a "new" fav. SfE is YA, and FWP is NA, but they are both amazing and I love them both so much.

Fish Out of Water by Natalie Whipple
I know I already reviewed this one, but it was so cute that I had to mention again. Also self-pub, I loved how cute and fun this was and how awesome Mika is.

anything by Rachael Anderson
If you're into (clean) adult romance, then Rachael Anderson is your girl. Her books are super cute, sweet, and fun to read.

The Superlatives Series by Jennifer Echols I loved this series, but Most Likely to Succeed was my favorite, hands down. It was cute, and fun, and hilarious, and I loved the characters (but especially Sawyer). They're the kind of cute, sweet reads that would be perfect for Valentine's Day, actually.

I could go one forever about books I love, but I figured I should just stick with books I've read recently so we aren't here forever. In fact, I might start doing this every once in a while to highlight books. So, tell me, who are you spreading the #booklove to today?

Perfect Couple {by Jennifer Echols}

Title: Perfect Couple
Author: Jennifer Echols
Series: Superlatives, #2
Genre: YA Contemporary
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Received via Edelweiss

In this second book in The Superlatives trilogy from Endless Summer author Jennifer Echols, Harper and Brody think they're an unlikely match, but the senior class says they belong together.
As yearbook photographer, Harper is responsible for those candid moments that make high school memorable. But her own life is anything but picture perfect. Her parents' bitter divorce left her wondering what a loving relationship looks like. And ever since the senior class voted her and star quarterback Brody Perfect Couple That Never Was, her friends have been pushing her to ask Brody out.
Brody doesn't lack female admirers, but Harper can't see herself with him. He's confused about the match too. Yet they find themselves drawn together, first by curiosity about why the class paired them, then by an undeniable bond.
The trouble is, though they're attracted to each other, they have a hard time getting along or even communicating well. If they're the perfect couple, this shouldn't be so difficult! Soon it becomes clear their class was wrong, and they throw in the towel. But they feel so changed from making the effort, they can't forget each other. What if this match made in hell is the perfect couple after all?

This was a cute story. I am loving this series, and have fallen so in love with these characters. Although I can't wait for Sawyer and Kaye's story, this was also a sweet, fun read.

Harper is the school's yearbook photographer. She's shy, artsy, likes to dress vintage, and can't imagine why the school would pair her up with Brody, the school jock, as Perfect Couple That Never Was. They are so mismatched it's comical. But they both have feelings for each other that they can't deny.

I liked Harper. I think because she's a little like me, what with being introverted and all. But it's her senior year, and she wants to come out of her shell. Harper goes through growth that was showcased exceptionally well. From learning that standing up for yourself does not mean always rebelling against what others say, to finding out what she really wants from life, I think it protested the conflicted life of teenagers really well.

I had some issues with this book, such as: was Harper changing herself to get a guy or truly for herself? Should you really date someone just because the school voted so? Also, her and Brody's initial "cheating" bugged me because she was SO against it, what with her parents going through a divorce, but apparently not against it enough to stop doing it. I realize teenage hormones and yada yada but still.

I of course, loved the supporting cast. They were so fun, and kept it interesting. The angst was real in this one. All in all, it was a cute, fluffy book that will sure to have you wanting the next book now just to get more of these characters.
