Angus has loved Charlotte since they were teenagers, but he's tired of waiting for her to realize how good they could be. She's broken his heart one too many times, and it's time to move on with his life. Maybe a position halfway across the country will be just what he needs to get over her. But when Charlotte won't let him go without a fight, Angus has to decide if he's willing to let her in again or if she's too late.

I love this series. I have loved seeing Charlotte and Angus on this journey through the first book, and although I'm sad to say goodbye, I did love their conclusion as well. It was sweet, cute story.

 

Angus has, freaking finally, told Charlotte how he felt. But he feels like he's had his heart broken too many times by her, and that he just needs to move on. But Charlotte, realizing that she too, loves Angus, isn't willing to go without a fight this time. But she's too late. Angus has already taken a residency in Kansas. But he doesn't bank on the fact that Charlotte isn't going to let him go.

 

This book caused me a lot of angst. Angus is being pretty hard-headed about the whole thing, and it caused me a lot of frustration about the whole thing :P Charlotte has always a fun character, humorous and easy to like. But this book she's also more confident in herself. She knows what she wants, she's an adult, and she's going to get it. I loved seeing this newer, more confidant side of Charlotte. She still has doubts, because Angus is doing a pretty darn good job of pushing her away, but she still pressed forward. 

Angus is the only thing that caused me stress in this book. I can understand where he's coming from to a point. But beyond that, he was just trying to play the martyr card, and it wasn't working. But thank goodness for Will, to tell him like it is. I loved the secondary characters, as they were there for Charlotte and Angus like they have the whole series, bringing fun and humor, but also seriousness when needed. 

All in all, this was a very enjoyable read, and a great conclusion to the series. It was fun, humorous, although not without its serious moments. I am definitely sad to say goodbye to these characters!

Mini Reviews: My Own Mr. Darcy, Cinder & Ella

After being dragged to the 2005 movie Pride and Prejudice by her mother, sixteen-year-old Elizabeth’s life changes when Matthew Macfadyen’s Mr. Darcy appears on the screen. Lizzie falls hard and makes a promise to herself that she will settle for nothing less than her own Mr. Darcy. This ill-advised pledge threatens to ruin any chance of finding true love. During the six intervening years, she has refused to give any interested suitors a chance. They weren’t Mr. Darcy enough. Coerced by her roommate, Elizabeth agrees to give the next interested guy ten dates before she dumps him. That guy is Chad, a kind and thoughtful science teacher and swim coach. While she’s dating Chad, her dream comes true in the form of a wealthy bookstore owner named Matt Dawson, who looks and acts like her Mr. Darcy. Of course she has to follow her dream. But as Elizabeth simultaneously dates a regular guy and the dazzling Mr. Dawson, she’s forced to re-evaluate what it was she loved about Mr. Darcy in the first place.

I will say, I have never understood the fascination people (women) have with Mr. Darcy. I mean, I get it, kind of, but I don't know. The book version, that is. I've seen/read quite a few retellings/modernizations where I could see it. But I digress. Elizabeth was super obsessed with finding her own Mr. Darcy. Like, super obsessed.

Elizabeth is actually a likeable character. She's sweet and caring and quirky and fun. But her obsession with Mr. Darcy... like come on. One of the reasons that it bothered me was that is was so superficial. She's dating a guy based on how he looks. I mean, when he asked what he wanted him to call her, she goes by what Darcy says, Elizabeth instead of the Lizzie everyone else calls her.

I will say, though, I did still like Matt. And he did have the Darcy thing down, from being snobby and a bit pretentious, but nice enough once you got to know him. But Chad was where my heart was at. I mean, he was so nice and sweet and funny. But I did start to like Matt, and started to not like Elizabeth for leading the two men on.

Regardless, this progressed in a quick and easy manner. It took me slight while to get into it, but once I did I couldn't stop because I needed to know how it ended. And it was super cute and fluffy and all-around will just make you feel good.

Hollywood sensation Brian Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There’s major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won’t make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he’s left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian’s bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. This book was super cute. It kept me up until 3AM needing to know how it ended, and it did not disappoint. Ella isn't like most other main characters. For one, she's a book blogger. I mean, how cool is that? She was perfectly nerdy and quirky and reminded myself of many a fellow book blogger ;) But also, she's was permanently scarred in an accident that took her mother's life. After months in a coma, then therapy, she's been moved across the country to live with her father, the man who walked out on her over 10 years ago. Seeing him with his perfectly perky new blonde family, who barely hides their disdain for her, only reminds Ella of all that she's lost.

Before her accident, Ella's best friend was one that she had never met before. An online friend that went by the name of Cinder. But what she doesn't know is that "Cinder" is actually a Hollywood star, Brian. Stuck in the life that everyone else keeps picking for him, Brian feels that he has nothing to live for after losing touch with his best friend. That is, until months later, she emails him again.

This book was just so cute. But it wasn't all fluff. Ella has been through some truly horrible experiences. And instead of letting her make her own choices, a father she barely remembers has taken over her life. Instead of letting her finish high school in a few month online, he's making her retake her senior year at the same private school her evil stepsisters go to. And boy, are they evil. Especially Ana, who seems to be doing anything to make Ella's life miserable. But one thing I loved was how much all of these characters grew. Yes, even the step-witches. There are some serious issues dealt with here, and they are resolved in realistic ways that testify to the growth of the characters. I loved seeing Ella grow and become more than just her scars, and how her friends were there for her the whole way.

And Brian. Most of us can only dream of our online pen pal actually being a movie star. While Brian himself was questionable, Cinder was so sweet and nearly perfect. And the fact that he was a closet nerd was super adorable. Well, I guess Cinder wasn't a secret nerd, Brian was. But also, the nerd quirks that we all can relate to. How much they fangirled together over their favorite series and argued about everything. It was so cute.

While on the surface, this may seem like a fluffy book, really, it was so much more than that. It tackled some serious issues. But it was super cute, and I'm pretty sure I had a goofy grin the whole time I was reading it.

In an effort to get Charlotte out of her rut, she and her best friend decide it’s time for some good old-fashioned matchmaking. While Aleena arranges for Charlotte to meet up with a handsome Scottish tourist, Charlotte gets her two best friends together. But when sparks start to fly between Aleena and Angus, Charlotte is left feeling more alone that ever--at least until the charming Scotsman becomes more than just a safe, rebound guy and teaches her that maybe, just maybe, she can dare to open her heart again.

Ahh I loved this book just as much as the first one. It's so humorous and light and fluffy and helloooo this one has a Scottish love interest how can it not be good?  Charlotte is just coming off nursing her broken heart of breaking up with Kyle. But it's time for her to move on. What better way to move on than to test the waters with a visiting tourist. No harm there, because nothing more can happen since he'll be going back  to Scotland. Right? Except, this is Charlotte. And nothing is ever "just a fling" with Charlotte.

I love Charlotte. She is so fun and cute and easy to relate to and understand. She definitely has a lack of self-confidence because of her dating history. But she also can laugh at herself, and is learning how to move on. I definitely loved how she learned to take some time for herself and figure out what she wanted for her life. (And had the guts to visit Scotland by herself!) 

And Flynn was a total sweetheart. I mean, he was a pretty awesome guy. I mean, even though I couldn't see him and Charlotte together in a personal sense, I'm glad she found someone who was willing to just be a friend when she needed one, to see that she was broken inside even when no one else could.

I'm sure everyone that read book 1 was rooting for Charlotte and Angus to get together. (And if you weren't, who are you.) But he was really making me frustrated in this one. ANGUS. GET YO'SELF TOGETHER, SIR. Let's face it, he was really acting like a jerk. And while I can understand where he was coming from, at the same time, I couldn't.

At the risk of spoiling anything, I'm just going to say, this was so cute. It was fun and cute and fluffy. And I loved every bit of it.

They call her “the husband maker” and sadly, it fits. Every guy she’s dated since high school has become his next girlfriend’s husband. Not hers. Not three girlfriends down the road. The next. Is she doing something wrong or is she just cursed? When Kyle Aldsworth enters the picture and sweeps her off her feet, Charlotte begins to hope that maybe she's not destined to be single forever. A senator’s son with political aspirations of his own, Kyle's wealthy, handsome, and in need of a wife. Will Charlotte be disappointed yet again, or will she finally be able to make a husband for herself?

I loved this. It was hilarious, and all around just a lot of fun. It was definitely a cute, fluffy book and was just pure enjoyable to read.

Charlotte--Charlie, Chuck, Chuckers--has been given the nickname "the husband maker" because literally every single guy she has dated has gone on to marry the very next girl he dates. It's one thing for Charlotte to notice, it's quite another for other people to notice the trend. But Charlotte can't help but hope that one day, there will be someone that can break the "curse". Enter Kyle Aldsworth, who just might seem like The One to do that. 

Not going to lie, I thought this was going to be one of those best-friend romances, where she is trying to find someone and then realizes that she's been in love with her best friend the whole time. And while this didn't not end up being that, hey, there's more to the series. Because I am definitely #teamAngus ;)

Charlotte was a very fun character, easy to relate to and read about. She was funny, but also strong and could be serious when she needed to be. The stories of her athletic fails and romantic misses were funny and an interesting way to add in flashbacks. It was also kind of sad, and made you feel for her. 

I loved the other characters as well. Even though I was initially rooting for Angus, I did also like Kyle. I also loved the family dynamic, as Charlotte's parents and siblings were focal parts of the story. 

The story line was very entertaining and will keep you interested, as well as definitely make you laugh. As Kyle and Charlotte go through one mishap after another, you find yourself rooting for them and just hoping they get their happily ever after. 

I will say, I loved this ending. It was a bit non-traditional, but I loved the way Charlotte handled things. I liked the conclusions she came to, and it really showcased the kind of person she is. And now I want book 2!!

All in all, this was a very light, cute read that I would definitely recommend for anyone who loves their chick-lit.
